SSS BBQ Barn has walked away with top honours at the 2004 State Tourism Awards.
The restaurant took out the Tourism Restaurants and Catering Services award.
SSS's manager, Kylie Griffis was at the glittering gala dinner and presentation held at The Westin, Sydney, on Thursday night, where the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, Sandra Nori, made the announcement.
Kylie collected the award on behalf of Maree and Jarrod Medway, who have owned and operated the SSS franchise at Coffs Harbour since 2000.
Maree said she was speechless and over the moon about the achievement, particularly because of the high level of competition.
"We were up against some big companies," she said.
"This award helps recognise SSS not just for our food and service, but also as a major contributing business to the tourism industry in the area.
"We feel privileged to be able to operate a business in Coffs Harbour and are proud to be able to represent this great holiday destination as a State award winner."
Maree and Jarrod thanked their 'sensational staff', the founders of the SSS franchise, Graham and Marlene Manvell, and the support of their customers for contributing to the restaurant's success.
The Medways and Kylie will attend the national awards presentation in Alice Springs in February next year.
SSS BBQ Barn is located at the corner of Bray Street and the Pacific Highway. It is open from 5.30pm. Call 6651 9166 or go to www.sssbbbq.com.au for more information.
